Keeping Your Pet

Find out what help is available to you if you are struggling to keep your pet, including support from our Inspectors.

Helping you and your pet stay together

Our Inspectors are here to support you — not to separate you from your animals, which we only do in the most extreme cases. We’re focused on keeping people and their pets together through a range of preventative support and referral services. Whether you’re facing challenges with pet care, or other issues, our team is here to help you find solutions that work for you and your animal.

Abandoning animals is never the answer.

If you are struggling to look after your pet or find yourself in a position where you think you might have to surrender your pet, please call our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.

What Inspectors do to help

Our Inspectors will often visit your home to provide welfare advice and care to help keep you and your animal together in a safe home. The main focus of every one of our Inspectors out on the road and in your community, is prevention. Thy work with our Community Teams to provide preventative services and make referrals to the right people to help you.

Community Advice Hubs

You can speak to an Inspector at one of our Community Advice Hubs if you have a problem or issue that you think we can help with. Our aim is always to support you to keep you with your animal, so please talk to us as soon as you need to.
