Our dedicated Animal Care Assistants need your help to provide a caring and safe environment for the injured wildlife in our care.

Why we need you

We need you to help our dedicated Animal Care Assistants in providing a caring and safe environment for the injured wildlife in our care. You will be involved
ensuring that their accommodation is always clean and hygienic and assist with monitoring and feeding of wildlife casualties during centre opening hours. Full training will be provided and you will always have the support of our staff in carrying out your duties.

How much time do you need to be able to give?

A minimum of 8 hours per month – for example two half days per month.

What will you be doing?

  • Help us to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in our wildlife shed accommodation
  • Assist with monitoring and feeding wildlife casualties in our care
  • Undertake all associated manual data recording
  • Maintain good stock levels in the shed e.g carry boxes, newspapers, towels, gloves etc

What skills do you need?

  • Compassionate, patient and caring, with a strong interest in animal welfare
  • Previous experience in handling wildlife would be preferable
  • You must be a good listener and able to follow instructions well
  • You should be flexible in your approach, as there will be times when contact with the cats is minimal
  • Ability to bend and lift as required in caring for the wildlife

Further information related to this role

It will not always be possible for you to have hands-on experience with the wildlife in the course of your volunteering duties. Your contact with the wildlife will depend upon the animals in our care at any given time, their individual needs and with your own safety in mind.
