Why we want you
We need you to help our dedicated Animal Care Assistants in providing a caring and safe environment for the equines in our centre. You will be involved in ensuring that their stable blocks and other accommodation is always clean and hygienic, and assist with feeding, grooming and enrichment activities for specific animals. Full training will be provided and you will always have the support of our staff in carrying out your duties.
What you will be doing
- Help us to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in our stables and other equine accommodation
- Assist with feeding, grooming, exercising and providing enrichment activities for the equines in our care, as directed by our staff
- Undertake all associated manual data recording
- Assist with any other general cleaning and maintenance duties
The skills you need
- Compassionate, patient and caring, with a strong interest in animal welfare
- Previous experience with equines is essential
- You must be a good listener and able to follow instructions well
- You should be flexible in your approach, as there will be times when contact with the animals is minimal
- Ability to bend and lift as required in caring for the equines

It will not always be possible for you to have hands-on experience with the animals in the course of your volunteering duties. Your contact with the animalswill depend upon the animals in our care at any given time, their individual needs and with your own safety in mind.
