‘Spooktacular’ homes needed for animals across Scotland

We are screaming out for homes for animals in the care of our animal rescue and rehoming centres this Halloween.

We are hoping we can ‘treat’ some of these animals to their forever homes.

Sally, sabrina, bellatrix and wednesday teh rats

Rats Sally, Sabrina, Bellatrix and Wednesday (Angus)

Sally, Sabrina, Wednesday, and Bellatrix are a quartet of adorable female rats who have been at our Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for seven days.

Throughout the daytime, this foursome enjoy their relaxation and nap time but, like most rats, they come out at night showing a keen interest in exploring their surroundings. They love digging for treats and playing ‘fishing’ for peas and sweetcorn in water-filled bowls alongside a variety of other enrichment.

Their new owner will need to provide them with a large, deep-based enclosure that offers ample space for exploration. They’ll also need plenty of hiding spots, hammocks, and enrichment designed to cater to their burrowing and sheltering instincts.

These rats will make ‘boo-rilliant’ pets for any home.

Hocus and Pocus the guinea pigs

Guinea pigs Beetlejuice, Hocus and Pocus (Glasgow)

Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre has a trio of delights waiting for their new homes.

Beetlejuice is a ‘ghoul-geous’ Guinea pig ready to take on the world. Say his name three times and he's sure to show up and cause mischief!

This lovely young lad is looking for a home on his own due to not getting along with his siblings.  He has been at the centre for 20 days.

As he is young, Beetlejuice is still a little timid so will require an experienced owner to boost his confidence and handling.

He will need enrichment and extra foraging opportunities to keep him busy as a solo piggy.

Hocus and Pocus are a bonded Guinea pig duo ready to find their forever home. They have also been at the centre for 20 days.

These gorgeous boys are still very timid so require an experienced home to further their handling and allow them to gain confidence at their own speed.

Their new owners would need to provide them with plenty of space to stretch their legs, enrichment to keep them active and a cosy place to snuggle up in.

Trick and treacle the cats

Cats Trick and Treacle (Inverness)

Trick and Treacle are a gorgeous little pair of cats in search of their new forever home. They have been at the Highlands and Islands Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 25 days.

This adorable duo were both petrified coming into our care and liked to hide away where they felt safe, however they are now growing in confidence.

They love their food so this would be a good way to win them over. They are currently not too keen on being handled and they may prefer to be mainly outdoor cats in a quiet or rural area.

Due to their nervous nature, Trick and Treacle would be best suited to a quiet, adult-only home.

Ghost the bird

Ghost the bird (Angus)

Ghost is a beautiful bird who, unlike their name, is not at all scary! They have been at our Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 44 days.

Ghost arrived as a stray and can be quite shy at times but also very inquisitive and charming.

Ghost is on the lookout for the perfect forever home – ideally with other similar birds so they have company.  Their perfect home would be with a passionate and experienced bird enthusiast who can provide Ghost with an spacious aviary to allow them to stretch their wings and thrive.

Morticia and friends the mice

Morticia and friends the mice (Dunbartonshire)

Morticia and friends are a group of nine female mice looking for a new home. They have been at the Dunbartonshire and West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for 47 days.

These girls will need a large enclosure with plenty of substrate for digging and lots to keep them busy!

They could be rehomed together as a group or in smaller groups and pairs.

These girls would appreciate an owner who can work on their handling.

Zombie the snake

Zombie the snake (Aberdeen)

Zombie the corn snake is looking for a new vivarium to creep into! They have been in the care of our Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for a hair-raising 548 days!

Contrary to what their name may suggest, Zombie is an active and inquisitive snake who is always roaming around. They are very nosy and like to spend time spying on what's happening outside their enclosure.

Zombie will require a suitably sized vivarium with plenty of enrichment to keep them occupied. They are also looking for an experienced home as they can be particular about being handled and they are quite strong for their size.

All of these animals would make 'fang-tastic' pets and the charity is dying to find them 'fa-boo-lous' homes.
