Animal welfare remains our number one priority
Today, we received notification that union members have voted in favour of strike action. Unite has now confirmed the result of their formal ballot, a total of 139 members were balloted, 77 members voted and 62 voted in favour of taking industrial action. That equates to 14% of our paid workforce. The total number of helping hands, including volunteers, is 1,342, so 19 out of 20 did not choose strike action.
We’re disappointed with this result. We’ve been engaging throughout. Listening, sharing the financial picture, and putting forward a pay offer that reflects what is affordable and responsible given the financial pressures we’re under.
Animal welfare remains our number one priority, our helpline remains open and we will continue to care for animals across Scotland. We are deeply grateful for the continued support in our vision to make Scotland the best place in the world for an animal to call home.
