Generous shoppers across Dumbarton, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Livingston have raised £10,575.42 to help protect Scotland’s injured and rescued animals.
The funds were donated during last year’s Pets Foundation Santa Paws Appeal, which ran from 1 to 24 December. The Scottish SPCA partnered with local Pets at Home stores to raise vital funds for animals in need during the festive period.
A team of 10 dedicated volunteers supported the appeal across the four stores, collecting and managing donations.
Sally, a Scottish SPCA volunteer, said: “Santa Paws is great fun to do, we meet lots of people and their dogs and everyone tends to be generous over the festive season. Getting to cuddle the dogs in store is a lovely bonus, the best part is raising money and awareness for the Scottish SPCA!”
Funds raised locally will go directly towards supporting the Scottish SPCA’s rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming work, helping to provide food, shelter and urgent medical care for pets, wildlife and farmed animals.
A real difference, especially during the festive season
Megan Stobo, Partnership Development Manager at the Scottish SPCA, said: “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Pets at Home for their continued support and our wonderful volunteers for helping make Santa Paws 2025 such a success. The funds raised made a real difference, especially during the festive season, and we simply wouldn’t be here for animals across Scotland when they need us most without partnerships like this.”
The Santa Paws Appeal is the Pets Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, raising more than £1.4 million nationwide in 2025 to support animals in need.
Established by Pets at Home in 2006 as the company’s corporate foundation, the Pets Foundation provides financial support for rescue and rehoming charities across the UK. Every Pets at Home store selects a local community partner to champion, inviting them to take part in annual fundraising events such as Santa Paws to raise money for their work. The Dumbarton, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Livingston stores proudly support the Scottish SPCA.
Thanks to this amazing community effort
Pets Foundation Manager, Sara Main, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to this year’s Santa Paws Appeal. The generosity shown by our customers and the dedication of the volunteers makes a real and immediate difference to animals in need across Scotland.
“Thanks to this amazing community effort, the Scottish SPCA can continue providing lifesaving care to vulnerable pets, wildlife and farm animals all year round.”
While the festive appeal has been a huge help, the need for support continues all year round. The Scottish SPCA receives no government funding and relies entirely on public donations to continue rescuing and caring for thousands of animals each year.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps give vulnerable animals a second chance.
