Ludo's rehoming 'tail'

You may remember a few weeks ago we shared Dahlia’s story, who came in to our care as a pregnant stray and gave birth to 12 beautiful pups.

Ludo was one of those pups, and found the perfect forever home with Ross and his family at the end of last year.

After 15 years living and working in Edinburgh, they had moved out to East Lothian to enjoy country living and beach walking. They previously owned a beloved Cocker Spaniel who sadly passed away when Ross’ daughters were young. They decided to wait until the girls were older before getting another dog.

Having moved into a new home with a dog friendly garden, and with a change of job meaning Ross was now working from home, they knew it was the right time to welcome a dog in to their home again. After a number of applications, they got a call from our Aberdeenshire centre.

Ross said, “The staff were incredible from day one and after passing all the required checks we received confirmation that we would be getting a Lurcher puppy, one of 12 the centre had available. He was named Tank by the centre staff but we chose to call him Ludo.

“We visited the centre and after a couple of hours we were surprised and delighted to be offered the chance to take him home with us that day. He settled in very quickly and is loving life running in the garden, playing with his toys, and going for walks on the beach and in the woods.

“We have been working hard on his puppy class learning and he is improving every week, and loves meeting people and other dogs.

“He’s grown up very quickly and is just such a loving boy, always happy to see friends and family when they come.

“I recently met an adult lurcher owner who described the breed as ‘40mph couch potatoes’ and going by the speed Ludo takes me for a walk, I can very much understand it!”

The family have kept in regular contact with our centre, and have even made contact with the owners of Ludo’s siblings so that they can share the highs and lows of puppy ownership as well as hints and tips!
