Long-term resident Gazza’s search for his retirement home featured on BBC ALBA’s Cù Leis Thu? A Puppy for Padruig
A dog who is a long-term resident at the Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Lanarkshire is set to feature on BBC ALBA’s new series all about rescue dogs.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Gazza, aged nine, is in search of his retirement home after being a resident at the centre for almost a year. The friendly pooch arrived at the centre having been abandoned with two other dogs.
In the first episode of Cù Leis Thu? A Puppy for Padruig, viewers will be introduced to Gazza and Animal Care Assistant, Janet Kirkpatrick, who will speak to presenter Peter MacQueen about Gazza’s background and how his life has been at the centre.
The episode will also provide advice and information to consider when rehoming a rescue dog.

Cù Leis Thu? follows dog lover Peter as he travels across Scotland meeting dogs who have found their forever homes and those still searching. The first episode will see Peter explore a breed woven into the fabric of the country – the Scottie – which has now become a proud symbol of Scotland.
A wonderful dog who has so much love to give
Jennie Macdonald, Head of Adoption, Fostering and Community Engagement, said: “Gazza is a wonderful dog who has so much love to give. He has been with us for longer than most of our dogs, so seeing him feature on the show is a lovely moment for everyone who has been caring for him. We hope this gives people a chance to see his personality and that it helps him finally find the quiet and comfortable home he deserves.”
The first episode of Cù Leis Thu? A Puppy for Padruig will air on BBC ALBA on Wednesday November 19 at 8.30pm.
