People are able to visit the reception of the Scottish SPCA’s Dunbartonshire rescue centre and purchase a bauble for the Christmas tree – which will buy either a dog or cat a Christmas meal.
The Scottish SPCA’s Dunbartonshire and West of Scotland Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Milton has put up a Christmas tree in their reception area which people who are visiting can buy a bauble for. A green bauble will give a dog a turkey dinner and a red bauble will give a cat a prawn cocktail meal.
There are also tags already on the tree with images of a number of animals currently searching for their forever home. Each tag has a different note and a link to that animal’s profile on the Scottish SPCA website.

Rachel Mansfield, Assistant Manager at the Dunbartonshire centre, said: “We are looking to give the animals an extra treat around Christmas time. A lot of our long-term animals haven’t had Christmas in a home for a while.
“If you can, please donate £2 to buy a bauble and give either a turkey dinner to a dog within the centre or a prawn cocktail to one of our cats. These meals will be given out to our animals on Christmas Day.”
As well as the tree, the centre are also offering a chance to win a hamper which includes some festive treats, a homemade dog canvas picture and a £50 voucher for local taxi firm Wright’s Taxi – donated by the company themselves.
For more information, you can pop into the reception area of the centre which is located on Dumbarton Road, Milton, G82 2UA.
