From Loss to Love: Woody’s Story

When Alan Muir’s family dog Woody passed away, the house fell silent. For years Woody had been part of every chapter of family life, growing alongside their children and offering constant companionship through life’s changes and challenges.

For a long time, Alan and his wife Amanda couldn’t imagine welcoming another dog into their lives. The loss felt too raw, the space too full of memories. But over time, they realised that Woody’s legacy didn’t have to end with his passing.

Inspired by his memory, Alan and Amanda decided to give another dog a second chance at happiness.

“But over time, they realised that Woody’s legacy didn’t have to end with his passing.”

Woody’s Story

When they contacted the Scottish SPCA, they were initially overwhelmed by the number of animals in need. They knew one thing for certain: they didn’t want another West Highland Terrier. Woody had been their Westie, and it would feel too much like replacing him.

Then came an unexpected call.

A group of West Highland Terriers had been rescued from horrific conditions, having been used for breeding and denied the chance to experience love, comfort or even grass beneath their paws. Could Alan and Amanda consider giving not one, but two of them a home?

Following a whirlwind journey, the newly named Ripley and Rosa are settled at home with Alan and family, discovering warmth, affection and security for the first time. For Alan and his family, the house is no longer silent. It’s filled again with the sounds of young lives flourishing.

Woody’s legacy lives on.

“When they contacted the Scottish SPCA, they were initially overwhelmed by the number of animals in need.”
