At the Scottish SPCA we believe our support to every school in Scotland should extend further than our FREE annual workshops. We want to support young people’s health and wellbeing, enhance their literacy and numeracy skills, introduce innovative ways to engage with STEM and inspire future career pathways.
In order to meet with restrictions, we have adapted our popular Animaltronics workshop to an outdoor setting so we can continue to visit and engage with your school without being in the classroom. We will be offering this from October 2021.
We have adapted to virtual classes so schools can still be #AnimalWISE as restrictions ease. Please register your interest below.

Join our Animal WISE e-learning course
By taking part in the Scottish SPCA's virtual Animal WISE world, you and your class will:
- Work your way through all the different zones.
- Show us what you have learnt by taking part in our quizzes.
- Be crowned a Scottish SPCA Animal Champion!
If you achieve all this, you’ll also be telling the world you are indeed Animal WISE!
FREE interactive workshops
Our free 2021 workshops are available to book. We have adapted our workshops to an outdoor setting to meet current restrictions.
Primary school pupils will be sent on an adventure as an Animal Rescue Officer to seek out the animals in need hidden around the playground. Using touchpads they will discover interesting facts about the animals we have in Scotland and, in groups, will investigate ways to help them. Pupils will also explore the needs and emotions of animals and how they can experience pain, fear and happiness by coding animal robot reactions to real life scenarios.
If you are a teacher check out what we are offering using the links on your right.
If you are a parent or carer encourage your child’s school to take part, after all it’s a free unique experience and it fits great with STEM. And if you are a child reading this then just think about the robots, games and videos - what more could you want?
Please register here for virtual classes or outdoor learning which will be offered from October 2021.
Adventure Tails activity packs
Our Adventure Tails booklets are filled with lots of activities that will teach you some amazing facts about the animals we have living here in Scotland.
Want to help Martha, one of our inspectors, and take on the challenge of becoming Scotland’s Animal Champion?
There are five colour stages to complete – Orange, Purple, Pink, Blue and Green. To be Scotland’s Animal Champion you must complete all coloured booklets in order. The orange booklet will be your first and the green booklet will be your last. You will be awarded a certificate each time you complete a booklet and hopefully you will be crowned as one of Scotland’s Animal Champions!
Psst message to teachers…if at least 50% of the pupils at your school take part, you’ll get the amazing honour of being one of the Scottish SPCA’s School Animal Champions 2020. We have made sure that there are lots of links to the Curriculum for Excellence so that you can be impressed with what your pupils have learned!
We will also be releasing some video blogs and setting up live-chat forums so keep checking our website!
So... let’s get started!
We can’t wait to see all of your creations! If you need any help along the way please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will soon share details on how you can ask us questions live too.
