Pet Aid
Pet Aid is our initiative to support people and pets who are struggling.
Through Pet Aid, we provide essential food supplies for animals through a network of food banks across most of Scotland. Keeping pets and people together is an amazing way to protect animal welfare. Nobody should have to give up their pet because they are unable to afford the items they need.
Calls to our animal helpline to give up pets have more than trebled in 2022. Many people don’t want to give up their animal, but feel they have no choice. Through Pet Aid, we offer people who need a small hand some vital support.
If you need help or advice, you can call our animal helpline in confidence on 03000 999 999.
It’s not okay to abandon an animal, but it is okay to talk to us if you feel you are struggling.
Introducing Pet Aid Veterinary
If you have a pet but are struggling to find the money to get your beloved companion the vet care they need, we can help.
In the Glasgow area, we are trialling a Pet Aid Veterinary service, where our qualified veterinary nurses can provide you with short term vet support to help you and your pet stay together.
We can:
- Visit you and your pet at home to assess your pet and see what vet treatment they need.
- Take your pet to a local vets to get them the care they need there if we can’t provide the treatment they need in your home (this can include getting a diagnosis or treatment from a veterinary surgeon). We will then bring your pet home and give you advice on how to care and manage your pet’s needs.
- Offer you advice and support to help you and your pet have a long and happy life together.
