'Spooktacular' homes needed for animals across Scotland

Buddy

The Scottish SPCA are seeking a homes for animals in the care of their animal rescue and rehoming centres this spooky season.

We hope it's not 'witchful' thinking that we can ‘treat’ these animals to their forever homes this Halloween.

Buddy (Caithness)

Buddy has been with us for over 400 days, and is currently in the care of our Caithness and Sutherland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Buddy

He is a ‘boo-tiful’ dog who after some initial TLC is ready and waiting to enjoy his life with a new family.

He is full of life and loves to say hello to everyone he meets!

He can be very strong when out walking, however he does respond well to training and has the potential to walk very nicely on the lead when he is focused. It would be great to find a new owner who can continue his training.

This ‘ghoul-geous’ lad knows basic commands such as sit and paw and loves to do zoomies around the paddock chasing his ball. He can also jump very high so an enclosed garden with a fence of at least six foot is essential to keep him safe.

Buddy does suffer from separation anxiety, and will need a home with owners who are around for most of the day to spend time with him.

Buddy has had trouble with his ears in the past and will require a new owner who is happy to take this on and continue to clean them several times a week. He is very used to getting his ears cleaned now and is happy to sit for this to be done.

He would prefer not to live with any other animals in an adult only home.

Buddy would make a brilliant companion and we would love to finally find him a home.

D'Artagnan (Aberdeenshire)

D'artagnan

Our Aberdeenshire centre would love to find homes for the rabbits in their care.

D’Artagnan sadly thinks he has been tricked, as he’s been searching for a home for over 500 days.

We think D'artagnan is happy being a solo rabbit. He is looking for an experienced and confident owner who can work with some of his insecurities. He relates to Joey from friends as he also 'doesn't share food!' but don’t worry he won’t ask you ‘’howl you doin’?’

He would like a home that could provide some outdoor access to allow him to relax, snack on some fresh grass and listen to the birds. He would also need a secure, large enclosure filled with lots of fun things to play with and keep him stimulated.

Bing (Abderdeenshire)

Bing

Bing is an extremely nervous rabbit looking for a new family. He also likes his own company and is gradually getting used to our staff at the centre, realising we aren’t so scary after all!

Everything is still quite overwhelming for this little guy so he is looking for an experienced owner who has the time and patience to allow him to come out of his shell fully.

Bing will need an enclosure large enough to house a few different hiding places to allow him to retreat when he becomes apprehensive about his surroundings.

We are sure once he is settled into his new home, he will become more confident.

Jeff (Aberdeenshire)

Jeff

Jeff is a wise gentleman who is ready to go on a new adventure.

He is a laid back, lazy bones, and is so gentle. He enjoys relaxing with his legs stretched out behind him.

Jeff would love nothing more than a quiet household where he can spend time lazing around, looking for veggies to snack on.

A large enclosure will be needed for Jeff to feel at home and we're sure he'd love to have the option to have an outside run for some grassy goodness.

Nova (Aberdeenshire)

Nova

Our lovely Harlequin bunny Nova is ready to hop into her new family's lives, and would make a ‘fang-tastic’ pet.

This beautiful girl has a very sweet personality. Nova is a confident individual who is still finding her feet around staff at the centre. She is a big fan of her fresh veggies and bundles of hay, which helps keep her teeth in good shape.

Nova will need lots of space to exercise and explore but a comfy bed is must for this girl to relax and be the ‘Hallow-queen’ she is.

Billy (Ayrshire)

Billy

Billy is an easy going saluki hoping for a happy ‘howl-oween’ in his new forever home.

He has sadly been overlooked for over 100 days, and is in the care of our Ayrshire centre.

He only has three legs, but this never holds him back! He is a gentle giant and loves to play and run around. He gets very excited to meet new people and especially loves meeting other dogs.

Although Billy has lived with other dogs previously, he would not be able to be rehomed with another dog and he will also need to be muzzled while out on walks due to his sighthound instinct.

When he is not out on his walks you will find him cosied up in his big snuggly bed. To help with his balance, Billy will need a raised feeder for his food and water bowls.

He would absolutely love a big garden to have some freedom in, and would be best suited to an adult only home.

Patsy and Edina (Glasgow)

Patsy and Edina

Patsy and Edina are both playful ferrets, full of fun and mischief, who have been in the care of our Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre for nearly 100 days.

These siblings are both well-handled, and enjoy nothing more than a good run about exploring new places.

They will require a large enclosure so they have plenty of room to play and hide. Plenty of enrichment would be needed to keep them stimulated.

They would prefer not to live with other ferrets, but enjoy each other’s company.

Flynn (Lanarkshire)

Flynn

Our Lanarkshire centre are seeking a loving retirement home for Lhasa Apso, Flynn.

He is a handsome gentleman who is between 10 and 12 years old.

As he is an older man, he can be set in his ways and likes a routine.

He is full of character and has a lot of life left in him. Flynn adores going out on walks and exploring, and then enjoys nothing more than spending the rest of the day snoozing in his cosy bed.

He loves a bum scratch and likes to be next to you, but is not a cuddly dog. Most of the time he prefers not to be handled and to be left to his own devices.

We are hoping to find him an experienced home with no children that understands his needs and respects his boundaries.

We feel he could possibly live with another dog that was similar nature as him.

Ursula (Angus)

Ursula

Could you rehome a small animal from our Angus centre?

Ursula is a playful little ferret who is full of fun and mischief!

She is a friendly girl who is super inquisitive and loves to run around and investigate. She is quite well handled but like some ferrets can be nippy so any new owner will have to be aware of this.

She is seeking a home with a large enclosure which has plenty of enrichment so she can exercise and explore. She will also need sufficient time out of her enclosure for stimulation and socialisation.

We think Ursula might have previously lived with other ferrets so could possibly live with another if her new owner had a separate enclosure during the initial introductions.

Marshmallow (Angus)

Marshmallow

Marshmallow is a ‘brewtiful’ but shy bunny.

He is an independent soul and prefers to do his own thing than get cuddles. He will require an experienced owner who has the time and patience to work on gaining his trust and building his confidence in being handled.

Since being at the centre his confidence has grown and he is a lot calmer when being handled. His handling will need to be continued regularly in his new home to encourage him to be more confident.

He has lived with female rabbits previously and could possibly do so again pending the correct introductions.

He is an indoor rabbit so will require a large indoor set up with space to stretch his legs and explore, with plenty of enrichment to keep him entertained.

Basil (Angus)

Basil

Basil is an inquisitive bunny who is always up to see what is going on. He is relatively well handled so will require an experienced owner who has the time and patience to work on gaining his trust and building his confidence.

He could possibly live with a neutered female rabbit pending the correct introductions.

He is an indoor rabbit so will require a large indoor set up with space to stretch his legs and explore.

All of these animals would make 'fang-tastic' pets and we are dying to find them 'fa-boo-lous' homes.

If you are interest in rehoming any of them, you can find out more information or apply here.
