Retirement homes needed for overlooked horses

We are seeking retirement homes for three horses in the care of our Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

We have been searching for homes for Hayleigh, Disco and Leo for up to 700 days but unfortunately they have been overlooked.

Centre manager, Louise Griese, said, “We would love to find homes for the three golden oldies; Hayleigh, Disco and Leo.

“Hayleigh, a 27-year-old Welsh cob, has been in the Society’s care for 700 days. She is a loving sweet mare who loves nothing more than a good groom and the odd treat. Hayleigh has some age related conditions which are easily managed and don’t affect her. Although she is 27 she certainly doesn’t act it.

“Disco is a gentle giant who loves attention. He enjoys the company of both humans and other horses. He is a 20-year-old thoroughbred and would love a new home where he can enjoy lots of attention and other horses to spend his days with.

“Leo is a Connemara pony that is believed to be 24 years old. He loves a cheeky canter round the field and is usually the first to greet you in the field. Leo is a friendly pony that loves attention and a good scratch.

“All three horses are looking for non-ridden homes, where they can enjoy their much deserved retirement with other horse companions.”
