Three rabbits arrived at our National Wildlife Rescue Centre from Caithness at the end of September, after a dog had dug up their burrow.
They were roughly 10 to 12 days old, with their eyes only just opening. They weighed just 113g, 144g, and 145g which is between the weight of a mouse and a hamster.
Our dedicated wildlife care assistants Emma and Jenna needed to hand-rear them at the centre, giving them milk feeds every four hours to begin with.
We are delighted to report that they were successfully released a few weeks ago three times heavier than their arrival weight, which is a healthy size to give them the best start back in the wild!
