We are appealing for information after a bearded dragon was found in poor condition in a woodland area in Lanark.

A group of walkers found the reptile while trail walking through the woods at Carnwarth, Lanark on Sunday 12 May and called our animal helpline.

Animal rescue officer, Heather Shaw said: “On Sunday afternoon we received a call from a group who were out walking and found the bearded dragon loose in the woodland.  They contained the dragon until I arrived.

“The reptile was very skinny and in poor body condition

“They are now receiving the care and attention from our staff at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“The dragon was lucky to be found when they did and we would urge anyone unable to care for their pets to contact our confidential animal helpline for support and advice.

“If anyone recognises this bearded dragon or has any information surrounding their circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
