Badly Drawn Pets returns

The Scottish SPCA is delighted to announce the return of their Badly Drawn Pets fundraiser for 2022, which is supported by Cala Homes.

The initiative will see members of the public receive a unique ‘pawtrait’ of their pet drawn by our staff and volunteers to raise vital funds for animals across Scotland.

New for this year, a version of Badly Drawn Pets will also be introduced to primary schools across Scotland. This offers an opportunity for children to help Scotland’s animals while enjoying a fun end-of-term activity.

Community fundraising and events manager, Stacy Rowan said, “We are really excited to bring back Badly Drawn Pets, and we’d love for as many people as possible to get involved.

“People can get a one-of-a-kind ‘pawtrait’ of their pet, masterfully (or not so masterfully) created by our staff and volunteers.

“A £10 donation is suggested for each picture, and all you need to do is upload a photograph and short description of your pet to give our ‘artists’ some inspiration.

“You will then be sent a digital copy of your pet within 14 days, but the master behind your ‘pawtrait’ will remain anonymous. Think of them as a Banksy for pets!

“Badly Drawn Pets will run from 2 November to 16 December, and would be a unique Christmas gift for a loved one.

“This year we have also designed a slightly different version of Badly Drawn Pets for schools.

“We are proposing to schools that children draw a picture of their own pet or an animal from their local Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre and, if they can, donate £1 to take part.

“We think this would also be a great way to open up a wider discussion about caring for animals.

“We really hope schools would like to take part in Badly Drawn Pets, if you are a teacher and have any further questions please do get in touch with our team by emailing fundraising@scottishspca.org.

Badly Drawn Pets is a fun way to raise much needed funds for Scotland’s animals, and will hopefully put a smile on animal lovers’ faces this Christmas.”

Cala Homes will support our Badly Drawn Pets fundraiser by matching all donations given for a pet ‘pawtrait’ up to the value of £5,000.

Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director at Cala Homes East, said, “We are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with the Scottish SPCA and be able to continue supporting such a fantastic cause.

“This event is certainly one of our favourites and we can’t wait to see the finished works of art – especially from the school children.”
