We are appealing for information after 29 quails were found abandoned on East mains Farm Newbigging, Carnwath Lanark.

We were alerted to the incident after a member of the public discovered them in three separate cages on 11 January.

Scottish SPCA Inspector, Dawn Murrie, said: “These 29 quails, which are a mixture of breeds and sexes, were found dumped around early evening not far from the road.

“The hutch is quite distinctive so we are hoping someone may recognise it.

“The quails are doing well and receiving the appropriate care and attention.

“We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.

“If anyone recognises these quails, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
