We are appealing for information after a cat was found abandoned near the High Street in Falkirk on 15 February.

We were alerted to the incident after a member of the public called our helpline after discovering the cat in a carrier on Dundee Court, a lane next to CeX.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Mairi Wright, said: “The entire male cat was found abandoned in a lane in a carrier with food, toys and jumpers at approximately 8pm.

“He is not wearing a collar and has not been chipped.

“He is grey and white and is in good body condition. Being neatly groomed, he appears to have been well looked after.

“Leaving an animal outside in a crate is incredibly distressing for them and is absolutely not the right way to give up a pet if you can no longer care for them.

“We’re glad he is now safe at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where he will receive the care and attention he needs.

“If anyone recognises this cat or has any information then please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.

“Please also call our helpline if you are struggling to care for your pet. Our team will do their best to support you.”
