What is the Edinburgh Marathon Festival?
The ever-popular Edinburgh Marathon Festival is Scotland’s biggest running weekend, offering a range of running events for children, adults and families to participate in while enjoying iconic city landmarks, coastal scenery, and a vibrant atmosphere.

What events are on offer?
Saturday 29th May 2027
EMF 10K – 9:00am For ages 15 and above. Set in Holyrood Park, this 10K showcases the stunning views of Arthur’s Seat
EMF 5K – 11:00am For ages 11 and above. A scenic route through Holyrood Park
EMF Junior 5K – 12:00pm For ages 11 and above. A chance for teens to take on their own challenge around the beautiful Holyrood Park.
EMF Junior 2K – 1:00pm For ages 9–12 around the beautiful Holyrood Park.
EMF Junior 1.5K- 1:30pm For ages 6–8. A fun, inclusive run around the beautiful Holyrood Park.
EMF Kids Kilometre – 2:00pm For ages 3–6. A joyful, family-oriented introduction to running around the beautiful Holyrood Park.
Sunday 30th May 2027
EMF Marathon – 10:00am You must be 18 or over to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon. The Edinburgh Marathon is the second largest marathon event held in the UK and was voted the fastest marathon in the UK for its flat course.
EMF Half Marathon – 8:00am For ages 17 and above. A fast, flat course ideal for PB seekers and first-timers alike.
EMF Hairy Haggis Team Relay – 10:00am For ages 15 and above. Team event for four runners, each completing a leg of the marathon route — perfect for workplaces and charity teams.
