The Scottish SPCA is appealing for any information about six young kittens who were discovered abandoned in a small cat carrier in Blantyre on Auchinraith Road in the early hours of the morning of Monday 1st December 2025.
They took the kittens to a nearby vets as there was no way of knowing how long these kittens had been left in the cold and without food. They then called the Scottish SPCA Helpline to report the abandonment.
Suffering with a flea infestation
No address or owner information could be found to help identify where they came from. A Scottish SPCA Inspector then attended the vets to assess the welfare of the kittens where it was confirmed that they were approximately six weeks old and were all suffering with a flea infestation.

A Scottish SPCA Inspector said: “This is a very concerning case and we are keen to establish what happened. If anyone was in the area of Victoria Street, Blantyre and Craig Street on Auchinraith Road on Sunday night or Monday morning and saw anything suspicious or has any information at all that could help, we urge them to contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
Abandonment is never the answer
The Scottish SPCA is also urging people to please call the helpline if you are struggling with looking after your pet. Abandonment is never the answer and there are many options we can do to help support you and your pet.
