Trusts and Foundations

With the support of trusts and foundations, we can turn compassion into lasting change for animals across Scotland.

A nation of animal lovers

Scotland is a nation of animal lovers. We care deeply about our pets, wildlife, farm animals and the environment they live in.  We couldn’t do it without the support from grant-making Trusts and Foundations as we strive to make animal welfare a national priority.

Trusts and Foundations are vital to our work

Our work encompasses a range of activities to help us achieve our mission to make Scotland the best place in the world for an animal to call home. We are on the road and in our Centres 365 days of the year rescuing and rehabilitating abused or neglected domestic pets and caring for injured wildlife at our National Wildlife Rescue Centre.

We engage in pioneering education work with SPCA’s around the world, conducting research and sharing best practice. We are campaigning for change to laws to protect Scotland’s animals and bringing criminals to justice with our unique enforcement powers.

This breadth of work provides a wealth of opportunities for Trusts and Foundations to fund specific projects, operational costs or long-term programmes delivered by the Scottish SPCA.

Programmes and work made possible by Trusts and Foundations

Our trailblazing Animal Guardians programme would not have been possible without the support of a charitable Trust. Animals Guardians is helping children across Scotland to be compassionate towards animals through safe and loving attitudes and interactions.

Because of the generosity of funders, we have been able to

  • Buy essential equipment for our Special Investigations Unit who work tirelessly to gather evidence to bring justice to the perpetrators of serious animal-related crimes.
  • Made improvements to our Centres with vital cat isolation units, protecting healthy cats from those who contract the highly contagious cat flu or other diseases.
How you can support Scotland’s animals

We welcome the opportunity to show representatives from a Trust or Foundation around a Centre or discuss the research we’re involved in that’s setting the agenda for animal welfare.

You might wish to spend time on the road with frontline teams to witness the work of our dedicated and passionate Inspectors or Animal Rescue Officers and how your gift will help support this work.

Or perhaps your Trust or Foundation would like to see an end to serious animal-related crimes. If you would like to know more about the harrowing and unfortunately, much-needed work our Special Investigations Unit does, we can do that too.

We have a small, dedicated Trusts and Foundations team who work closely with funders to match the best project to support. We provide you with updates on how we’re using your generous funding and ensure you fully understand how you have made a significant difference to animals and animal-owners across Scotland.
