Community Support

We need your help to keep animals and people together in communities across Scotland. As a Community Support volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of  the Scottish SPCA’s work in your community.

How much time do you need to be able to give?

We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours volunteering per month.

What will you be doing?

Support you local Community Advice Hub events: Be a friendly face at your local events for people to chat to; provide information about our services; help at our Pet Aid Food station; support our Pet Aid Vet Team by meeting and greeting their clinic appointments; share information about our adoption and fostering services and support people to complete a quick survey.

Help with our Pet Aid programme: Assist with the collection, sorting, and distribution of pet food and supplies to local food banks. Research and contact potential donation sites to secure additional resources for our food banks. Ensure pet owners in need receive the support they require.

Spread the word in your local community: Share the Scottish SPCA’s messages in ways that suit you, be it face-to-face conversations, phone calls or through social media. Engage with your local community to raise awareness of our community services and encourage people to get involved.

Support information pop-ups and attend community events: set up and manage information stands at libraries, community centres, fairs, festivals and other local events in your area. Provide information about the Scottish SPCA’s services, answer questions, engage with attendees and distribute flyers.

Share our posts on social media: use your social media platforms to share updates, news and campaigns for the Scottish SPCA. Help spread the word and encourage your network to get involved.
