Volunteer Driver for Centres

We need your help to carefully transport domestic and small wild animals (contained) between our rescue centres, to our National Wildlife Centre and to vet appointments.

Why we want you

We need help to carefully transport domestic and small wild animals (contained) between our rescue centres, to our National Wildlife Centre and to vet appointments. We also require help to undertake general driving tasks such as collection of goods, donations, animal supplies etc.

How much time do you need to be able to give?

A minimum of 8 hours per month – for example two half days per month.

What you will be doing

  • Uplift contained domestic and small wild animals for transportation to or from our rescue centres, wildlife centre or to local veterinary clinics
  • Transfer animals safely and securely
  • Maintain relevant manual records accurately
  • Undertake general driving tasks to assist with collection or transportation of goods, donations, food supplies etc
  • Undertake any other general admin duties as directed by the centre manager

What skills do you need

  • Practical experience of working with animals
  • A strong interest in Scottish animal welfare
  • Sound driving skills
  • Flexible approach to carrying out duties within specified shifts
  • Self-motivated and reliable

Further information related to this role

You will be trained to drive a Society Van and must have a full UK driving licence. We will require a DVLA Share Code as part of the application process. 3-6 points on licence will be reviewed and discussed on an individual basis and a decision taken on suitability to volunteer in a driving role. Anyone with over 6 points on their licence will not be permitted to volunteer as a driver. Checks are renewed annually. All fuel expenses will be reimbursed.
