Micro Volunteer

Micro-volunteering gives us the chance to bring on board enthusiastic animal-lovers who want to help in short bursts, or with little tasks that don’t take up too much time.

Why we need you

We know there are people who want to do their bit but don’t have a lot of time or energy to give, which is why we have micro-volunteering. Micro-volunteering gives us the chance to bring on board enthusiastic animal-lovers who want to help in short bursts, or with little tasks that don’t take up too much time. It’s also a great way to dip your toe into volunteering with the Scottish SPCA without too much commitment. And if you do enjoy it, you can always ask us for more little tasks to get involved in.

How much time do you need to be able to give?

From as little as five minutes per month on a social media task with the option to be further involved in events to suit your availability.

What will you be doing?

  • Online tasks –  you can help by simply sharing information and campaigns on your social media channels. These quick and easy tasks can be done on your phone from home or anywhere you like.
  • Community events – Join our fabulous Community Engagement Team at events near you and help us spread the word about the SSPCA’s great work and services! We attend local galas, shows, visit community groups and run pop-up events in all sorts of places! Short on time? You can help by simply handing a flyer in to your local cafe or supermarket or telling people about our work.
  • Fundraising – Help us to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising by joining our amazing Regional Fundraising Team for an event or two. Everything from bucket shakes to adrenaline events, or why not set up your own small event on campus? Fundraising is a great way to meet people in your community while raising much needed cash for animals in need.
  • Pet Aid – Help us keep people and pets together by identifying local supermarkets willing to host a Pet Aid donation box and/or identifying food banks in your area.

What skills do you need?

  • Enthusiasm… Lots of it!
  • Ability to use social media channels (for online posts)
  • An understanding of the Society’s work – we will give you training!
  • A pleasant and polite manner when dealing with the public
  • Confidence to interact with other people
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Ability to take instruction and follow health & safety requirements at events

What will you gain from being a volunteer?
