Gift Aid

Please let us know if we can add Gift Aid to your donations - and make your gifts worth 25% more at no extra cost to you!

KittenWhat is Gift Aid?

Using Gift Aid means we receive an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue for every pound you donate. This means £10 can be turned into £12.50, just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid.

Am I eligible for Gift Aid?

You can add Gift Aid to your donations if you have paid enough income tax or capital gains tax for each year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax all the charities or community amateur sports clubs you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Taxes such as VAT and council tax do not qualify. The Scottish SPCA will reclaim 25p of tax for each £1 given.

You must notify the Scottish SPCA if you want to cancel this declaration, change your name or home address, or no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.

If you pay income tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
