Toby came to be with us after his owner had sadly passed away.
Toby does not enjoy being in a kennel and is happiest when exploring the great outdoors and walking country trails.
Jack Russell's can have a high prey drive and Toby is fitting of this; small pets that run, squeak, or flutter would be a big no-no for living with him.
He is energetic, bold and intelligent and would like to go to a home where he would have plenty of time being exercised daily, mentally and physically.
Too little exercise, too little companionship, and too little mental stimulation will quickly lead to boredom, which will in turn lead to destructive behaviours.
Toby walks well on his lead and likes to take his time to sniff everything along the way. He does get defensive when other dogs are passing and some Jack Russell's are so fearless they will confront dogs much bigger than themselves. Toby, however, does seem more fearful after observing him in close proximity with other dogs in the centre.
He passionately loves to play with his ball but he can resource guard with it, this is something we are working on with him.
Toby may be small but he is most certainly mighty and bursting with energy and will make a great pet in the right home environment.
His new owners must be experienced in dealing with dog reactivity and resource guarding and also be confident in being able to resolve his current behaviour issues.
Toby would need to be the only pet in the house and in a strictly adult only home.
We feel he would be too worried in a busy household, so a quiet home would be ideal for him.
It will take many visits to bond with Toby so any potential owners must be willing to come regularly to spend time with him.
