Scottish SPCA seek home for adorable degu Jasper

The Scottish SPCA is seeking a forever home for Jasper the degu who is in the care of their Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

We have been caring for Jasper, whose species is native to Chile, for 41 days.

Elliot Hay, manager of the centre said, “Poor Jasper is being overlooked in our care and we’re desperate to find him a loving home.

“Degus are sociable animals and normally live with over 100 of their own kind in the wild.

“The life expectancy of a degu is nine years and Jasper is seven so he would love a home to live out his twilight years.

“Jasper has lots of personality. His hutch is his castle so he can get a bit protective of his space.

“He hasn’t been well handled so will need a patient and understanding owner who will allow him the time to become accustomed to human interaction.

“Jasper will need a nice big cage of his own with lots of mental and physical stimulation and he will need a sand bath to roll around in.

“We are sure this little degu is just waiting for his special someone to bond with who can offer him the loving retirement he deserves.”

Anyone who is interested in giving Jasper a home should contact our centre in Angus, Fife and Tayside on 03000 999 999.
