Scottish SPCA issues appeal after kittens found abandoned in West Lothian and North Lanarkshire

We are appealing for information after a kitten was found at the side of the road between Dechmont and Beecraigs Country Park and another was found in a high rise in Motherwell.

Kitten in Dechmont

We were alerted to the kitten in West Lothian after an eagle-eyed motorist spotted the young cat on 21 September.

Animal rescue officer Sarah Auldsmith said, “The kitten is only around six weeks old and is still very small. She could have easily been missed.

“We are thankful to the member of the public who picked up the female cat and took her home before phoning our animal helpline.

“She is not a feral cat and seems in quite good condition.

The kitten found in Motherwell was discovered in the stairwell of Netherwood Tower on 23 September.

Animal rescue officer Sarah Parker said, “The janitor of the building contacted us after finding the female cat on the 7th floor.

“Nobody in the building had lost the cat so the janitor contacted our animal helpline.

“She looks to be around seven or eight weeks old.

“She seems in good condition and is receiving care at one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres.

“We are keen to locate her owner and get her home. She is a friendly wee girl with a lovely nature.

“If anyone has any information about either of these kittens, we would urge them to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
