Scottish SPCA appeals for information after cat is put to sleep due to neglect

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat was found in very poor condition in Reidhouse Street in Glasgow.

Cat in Glasgow

We were notified by a member of the public who found the cat on 7 October in the Balornock area of the city.

Inspector Vickery said, “The elderly female cat was found in a very bad way.

“Her condition was due to various neglect-related issues.

“She was emaciated and was struggling to walk. She had overgrown nails and her fur was matted. Her gums were decaying and infected.

“We immediately took her for veterinary treatment where it was determined that the kindest thing to do was put her to sleep.

“We would like to speak to the person responsible for this level of neglect.

“The extent of the cat’s issues suggest this did not happen overnight and she would have been caused a great deal of suffering.

“If anyone can help with our enquiry, we would urge them to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
