Scottish SPCA appeal for information after gerbils found in Lanarkshire

We are appealing for information after two gerbils were found in Coatbridge in Lanarkshire.

GerbilGerbil 2We were alerted to the two gerbils found at the Highcoats block of flats on 6 May.

Senior animal rescue officer Stephanie Kirk said, “We were notified by a member of the public who discovered a taped cardboard box underneath a pile of household waste with the two gerbils inside.

“These two are so lucky to have been discovered as they could have easily been missed, having been abandoned and thrown out like rubbish.

“Thankfully they are both in good condition and have been taken to one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres where they will receive the appropriate care.

“We would urge anyone who recognises these two gerbils to contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
