Ferrets abandoned in Livingston

Livingston ferretsThe Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two ferrets were abandoned in Livingston.

We were alerted when a member of the public found the pets inside a cardboard box at Froggy Park on Saturday (11th April) at approximately 4.30pm.

The male ferrets are now in the care of our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno, where they have been named Bill and Ted.

Inspector Jenni Surgeon said, "Both Bill and Ted are friendly and in good condition.

"If they had escaped from the cardboard box they would have been at risk from predators such as foxes and we are really glad they are now safe in our care.

"Bill and Ted are lovely big boys who appear to have been well handled.

"We will look after them until we can find them loving new homes."

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
