Thousands of puppies are born into the illegal puppy trade each year. Don't help fund this cruel trade. Pledge your support and #SayNoToPuppyDealers.
The Scottish SPCA is determined to put an end to illegal puppy farming.
The launch of the Scottish Government's Buy a Puppy Safely campaign is a welcome step forward in the fight against puppy farming, which is having a devastating effect on animal welfare in Scotland. We are delighted to work together with them to highlight the pitfalls of buying illegally-bred puppies and the warning signs to look out for.
Over the past year we have been raising public awareness of the barbaric puppy trade in Scotland through our collaborative #SayNoToPuppyDealers campaign which launched in April.
With our partners, we also have a relentless commitment to disrupting the trade at source. Our Special Investigations Unit spearhead a mutli-agency taskforce who work tirelessly to bring puppy traders to justice through Operation Delphin which includes support from Dumfries and Galloway Council, ISPCA, USPCA, DSPCA, RSPCA, HMRC Trading Standards, Stenaline, Police Scotland Port unit and APHA.
It is our hope that Buy a Puppy Safely will make it easier for members of the public to buy a puppy responsibly and avoid falling victim to this cruel trade, we are proud to support the Scottish Government on this initiative.
We rely on members of the public to report their concerns to our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999. Without you, we cannot stop this brutal trade.
