The Scottish SPCA calls on enthusiastic runners in Edinburgh and the Lothians to help Scotland’s animals

We are encouraging animal lovers to take part in the 2019 Edinburgh Marathon Festival taking place on 25 and 26 May.

We are calling on active locals who are keen to get fit, get active and get outdoors this year as we have spaces for the marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k runs, and also the junior races.

Chief executive Kirsteen Campbell said, “The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is a fantastic way to raise funds for animals in the area, whilst getting fit in the process!

“There’s a race for everyone, from the super fit to a complete beginner.”

Kirsteen added, “The newly introduced route showcases more of Edinburgh’s beauty and will even pass the Scotland’s most iconic dog, Greyfriars Bobby!

“We don’t receive any government funding which means we rely on the public to be able to continue our work rescuing and rehoming animals in desperate need of our help.

“Anyone who sets themselves the challenge of taking part in one of the events really will be helping save lives.”
