Scottish SPCA supports government ban on the use of circus animals in Scotland

We fully support and welcome the ban brought in by the Scottish Government on travelling circuses using Tigerwild animals in Scotland.

It is our belief that the use of wild animals in these kinds of exhibitions contradicts the 5 freedoms; namely the right for an animal to express its normal behaviour.

We are opposed to the presentation and exhibition of all animals in circuses, travelling menageries or in any temporary setting which creates distress purely for entertainment purposes.

Wildlife rescue

Every year the Scottish SPCA rescues thousands of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.

In 2017 we cared for over 9,600 wild animals - a new record!

We help every kind of wild animal in Scotland and are the only national animal welfare charity which rescues birds.
