Animal loving gardeners wanted!

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for green fingered volunteers in the Clackmannanshire area to help clear the grounds and steps surrounding the beam house at their National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross.

Animal loving gardeners wanted! We are having a clean-up between 10am and 3pm on Wednesday 19 September to get the beam house ready for an exciting renovation project.

Superintendent Sharon Comrie said, “We would be very grateful if keen gardeners in the area would be willing to give up their time to help with this project.

“Before being sold to the Society, the beam house, Devon Colliery, was the largest and longest lasting colliery in Clackmannanshire before closing in 1960, ending at least 450 years of coalmining in the area around Sauchie Tower.”

Volunteers will need to supply their own gardening tools for the job but there will be tea, coffee and sandwiches available.

Anyone interested in coming along should contact June Watson on 01383 841028 or email june.watson@scottishspca.org.
