The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a rabbit was found abandoned in a layby at Gleneagles roundabout in Perthshire, on 13 May.

The female, black rabbit was not mobile and was in very poor condition when she was found.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Mairi Wright, said, “This rabbit was found in a layby at the Gleneagles roundabout on the A823 between 5pm and 5.30pm on Friday 13 May.

“She was in an extremely poor state, suffering from a broken hind left leg and fly strike.

“She was found surrounded by chopped up carrots, and a grey saloon car was seen driving away from the scene.

“She was not microchipped.

“Sadly, this rabbit passed away on arrival to the vets likely due to the extent of her injuries.

“We appreciate that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the way to give up an animal or seek medical attention for them.

“If anyone recognises this rabbit or has any information on this incident they can contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
