Home needed for Staffie with 'heart of gold'

The Scottish SPCA is seeking a home for Staffordshire bull terrier Duke, who is currently in the care of its Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

We have been searching for a home for Duke for almost 200 days, but sadly he has had little interest.

Centre assistant manager, Dale Christie, said, “Duke is a lively lad with boundless energy and a heart of gold. We would love to find him the perfect forever home.

“He is always on the go and loves his walks. However, he also has a super sensitive side and loves a cuddle!

“Duke has not quite worked how to play fetch yet, but he is more than happy to parade around and show off whatever toy you have thrown for him! Duke loves his food and will happily show off a few tricks for a tasty treat.

“He can get very excited when going out for walks and can become quite bouncy but he soon calms down once he gets going. Any potential new owner will need to continue his training to help Duke become a model canine citizen.

“Duke has some skin allergies that can flare up from time to time. Any potential new owner will need to take this into consideration along with the veterinary costs that this may incur.

“Due to his bouncy nature he is looking for an experienced owner, and would be best suited to an adult only home. He still needs some socialisation around other canine friends, so would prefer to be the only pet.

“Duke would love access to a private garden to play and let off some steam, but would need a six-foot fence.

“If anyone has any questions about Duke, please feel free to give the centre a call.”
