Home appeal for overlooked border collie

The Scottish SPCA is seeking a home for a border collie in the care of its Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

We have been searching for a home for Daniel for nearly 100 days, but unfortunately he has had very little interest.

Centre manager, Claire Faddel, said, “We would love to find Daniel a loving home.

“He is a handsome boy who loves going for walks and playing with his toys.

“He walks beautifully on the lead and knows his basic commands, but he can sometimes get a bit grumpy when playtime is over.

“Sadly Daniel is finding his time at the centre quite stressful. It will make such a difference for him to be in a quiet home environment, with an owner who can continue his training.

“We are looking for an owner who has owned collies previously and has experience with behavioural issues, as Daniel has some breed specific quirks which are related to his days as a working dog.

“He will also need further socialisation as he is not a huge fan of his fellow canines.

“Due to this, he will need to be kept on a lead if there are any other dogs around. He will be best suited to an adult-only home with no other pets, and he would love an enclosed garden to have some freedom.

“As he was previously kept as a working dog it is possible Daniel is not fully house trained.

“Despite his quirks, Daniel is such a lovely dog and we would love to find his forever home. He just needs an understanding owner to give him the chance he deserves.

“Anyone interested in rehoming Daniel can apply on our website.”
