We are appealing for information after a seriously ill Staffordshire bull terrier was found on 23 January.

The female brindle and white dog was found in the Udston and Glenlee community woodlands and handed in to the Vets4Pets Hamilton branch by a member of the public.

Inspector Dawn Murrie said, “The dog was in a very poor state, emaciated and covered in faeces and urine.

“The vets made every effort to stabilise her but unfortunately, her condition was so poor that she had to be put to sleep on welfare grounds.

“The vets estimated that she was approximately between eight and 12 months old. She was not microchipped.

“While we appreciate the owner of this dog may have intended for her to be found, this is not the correct procedure to follow if you can no longer take care of an animal or afford veterinary treatment.

“If anyone has any information on the owner of this dog, or the dog itself they can contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
