Appeal for durable toys for dogs in Dunbartonshire

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for durable toys for dogs in its Dunbartonshire and West of Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Many dogs are not able to be rehomed as they are involved in court cases or are receiving veterinary treatment or rehabilitation. Our centre is currently caring for 37 dogs and one of those is two-year-old male crossbreed, Buddy.

Centre manager, Judy Button, said, “Many dogs don’t adapt well to a kennel environment so providing them with toys can really help to stimulate them mentally and keep their mind active.

“We are in need of durable toys for our larger dogs like Buddy. Kong toys are great as they provide enrichment and a treat for the dogs in our care. Dog chews like Nylabones and rope toys would also be very well received by our canine chums.

“Buddy is full of life and is very strong so we do need toys that will withstand being played with by a powerful dog.

“As incredible as our team is, there is no substitute for a secure and loving home. Any form of enrichment, or toys for socialising, is going to help these dogs to adapt to a home environment and have a positive effect.

Items can be donated via the Amazon wishlist here or sent from another online retailer that can deliver. Items can also be left in the donation bins outside the centre at Dumbarton Road, Milton, Dumbarton G82 2UA.
