We’re delighted to announce that the Scottish SPCA will be the charity partner of The Local Pet Awards Scotland 2023.

What are The Local Pet Awards?

The awards celebrate the unsung heroes working within our pet industry to keep our furry, feathered and scaly friends safe, healthy, warm and fed.

With events in Northern Ireland, Ireland and Scotland, The Local Pet Awards offer the opportunity to sing the praises of those who work hard to look after pets and their 'hoomans'.

How do I nominate for an award?

Visit The Local Pet Awards website to find out more about the award categories and register your nomination for your local hero.

How is the Scottish SPCA involved in the event?

We will be there on the night to promote the work we do and host a silent auction and raffle. Funds raised will ensure we can continue to be there for all animals, always.

How can I contribute to the event?

We would be incredibly grateful for any prize donations. Everything from a bottle of gin to a luxurious night away is welcomed.

To donate, please contact fundraising@scottishspca.org and a member of the team will be in touch.

On behalf of our cats, dogs, birds, horses, small and exotic animals and wildlife –  thank you for anything you can spare.

How funds are spent - Cosmo's Story

Cosmo came in to the care of our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in October 2021.

Cosmo

Her previous owner had lots of other dogs and could not offer her the care she needed. Unfortunately, when Cosmo arrived, it was clear that she was very under socialised and frightened of other dogs. In fact, Cosmo was frightened of nearly everything. She was reluctant to leave her kennel as this became her safe space.

The team at the centre spent a lot of time bringing Cosmo out of her shell. They very slowly and gently introduced her to other dogs and environments and built up her confidence until she became the bubbly terrier you would expect.

In August 2022 Lucy came forward and offered Cosmo her forever home. This once-shy little girl now loves nothing more than walks and cuddles with her new family, including big softy Riley!

It costs us up to £15 a day to care for dogs like Cosmo. Any funds or prizes you can donate will help us care for the animals at our centres until we can find them their forever homes.
