What is the London Marathon?
Arguably the biggest date in the UK’s long-distance running calendar! It’s more than just a marathon – it’s a sporting festival which draws over 35,000 people every year. From elite runners to people pushing their limits for good causes likes ours, the Marathon is for everyone.
What’s the Marathon course like?
The course at the world-famous event takes in some of London’s most iconic landmarks. From the London Tower to the Houses of Parliament, not to mention a finishing line at Buckingham Palace, you’ll get a whistle-stop tour of the city whilst you power through the race.
It’s also a largely flat course which sticks closely to the River Thames. This makes it a good marathon for fast times. The course is always lined with huge crowds to cheer the runners on and provide that extra bit of motivation.
Who can take part?
You must be 18 years or older on the day of the London Marathon to take part.
How much funds do you have to raise?
We ask our runners to commit to raising at least £2000 in sponsorship. Spaces for the London Marathon are like gold-dust, but we have a number of guaranteed spots for people who want to fundraise for us.
If this sounds like you, get in touch by email and we’ll ask you to complete a questionnaire.
Have your own space?
If you’ve already secured your own space in the London Marathon and have decided you want to raise funds for the Scottish SPCA, then we’d love to hear from you.
Please click here or call our fundraising team at fundraising@scottishspca.org to speak to us. We can send you a handy fundraising pack and a Scottish SPCA fundraising vest, so everyone knows you are taking part to help animals across Scotland.
