Other Animals

Many different types of animals come into our care, from horses to exotic animals.

Our exotic animals, while fascinating and interesting, have very specific and specialist needs. Animals such as bearded dragons, snakes and terrapins have particular diets, homing and handling needs, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a full understanding of their requirements before rehoming one of these pets.

Along with exotic animals, there has also been an increase in the number of horses arriving in our care and our Edinburgh & Lothians and Aberdeenshire rescue and rehoming centres have dedicated equine facilities. On occasion, we will also have animals which are traditionally farm animals available for rehoming such as pigs and lambs.

If you are interested in rehoming one of these animals, please come along for a visit or call us for more advice.

The Scottish SPCA does not put healthy animals to sleep.

Our animal rescue and rehoming centres are open daily from 10am to 4pm. Call 03000 999 999 (option 2).
