Goose found in Fife

Snowy the goose

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a goose was found straying in Fife.

We were called to rescue the female bird on Thursday morning (15 November) after a Coaltown of Balgonie resident spotted her in their garden.

The white goose, who has been named Snowy, is now being cared for at our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Animal Rescue Officer Kieran Smart said, "Snowy was easy to catch and is quite tame which suggests she has been someone's pet.

"She is slightly thin so may have been straying for a couple of days before she was found but other than this she is in good condition.

"Snowy may have escaped from her home but it's also possible she has been abandoned.

"We are aware that she had been spotted wandering down the main street the previous night so it's very lucky she wasn't attacked by a fox or hit by a car.

"Thankfully, Snowy is safe now and hopefully someone will recognise her so we can find out where she came from."

Anyone with information relating to Snowy is asked to contact our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
