An Aberdeen woman has been convicted of causing her pet rabbit unnecessary suffering following a Scottish SPCA investigation. Warning, you may find the photographs in this article distressing.
A vet contacted us when Lisa Henry, 32, brought her rabbit, Estelle, in for treatment. She was missing part of her rear paw leaving bone and flesh exposed.
The vet had no option but to put Estelle to sleep and a post mortem revealed that she had been missing her foot for between five and seven days.
Henry appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday (12 December) after previously pleading guilty to the offence. Sentence was deferred for six months.
Scottish SPCA Chief Inspector John Carle said, "We welcome this conviction and the fact that Henry admitted causing her pet rabbit unnecessary suffering."
