Five year ban for dog neglect

Fudge

A woman has been banned from keeping dogs for for five years after she allowed her collie cross to suffer from a painful skin condition.

Fiona Forsyth, 47, Tarbolton Road, Cumbernauld, was sentenced at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday (31 October) and fined £300.

Forsyth admitted causing her female collie cross, Fudge, unnecessary suffering by failing to provide veterinary treatment for a skin condition caused by a flea infestation from an unknown date to 2 August 2010.

Inspector Leanne McPake said, "We are happy Forsyth has received a five year ban as she has demonstrated she is completely unfit to care for animals.

"Poor Fudge was left to suffer with very painful sores over her body as a result of an untreated flea infestation.

"This could have been dealt with quickly and easily but Forsyth allowed her dog to suffer.

"Thankfully, Fudge has since been rehomed to a loving new owner."
