The Scottish SPCA has assisted British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) with the release of five seal pups in Evanton after they were rescued from various locations across the north coast of Scotland.
Commons seals pups Harry, Scoot, Peewee, Lumpy and Lulu were all saved in joint operations between us and BDMLR after becoming separated from their mothers.
The pups were underweight, having been unable to feed themselves at such a young age, and were suffering various ailments when they were found.
All five were cared for at the BDMLR Highland Seal Hospital in Scarfskerry, Caithess, prior to their release on Sunday (23 October).
Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Audrey Gunn said, "This location was ideal as the pups could have shelter within the bay for the first few days until finding their bearings and heading out to sea.
"There is a large colony of common seals present in this area which will help the pups in their reintroduction to sea life.
"I'm delighted to say the release was successful and all five were last seen swimming around in the bay.
"We'd like to thank Jamie Dyer and his volunteers at the hospital who did a great job rehabilitating the pups."
