Fresh appeal for dumped dog

Halo

The Scottish SPCA has issued a fresh appeal for information after a dog with a severe skin condition was found abandoned outside Stirling last month.

The brown and white female springer spaniel, named Halo by our staff, was found tied to a gate on a small country lane off the A872, near junction nine on the M9 on 27 July 2011.

Scottish SPCA Inspector Louise Seddon said, "Unfortunately, despite our recent appeal for information, we have not had any response from the public about Halo.

"This was a horrendous case of cruelty as whoever owned Halo allowed her to suffer from a very painful skin disease and did not seek the veterinary care she so desperately needed.

"We are keen to identify who owned her and would urge anyone with information to contact us.

"We think she is only a young dog, possibly under one year old, and she is quite distinctive as she only has one eye.

"Halo's skin condition was severe and she is continuing to receive treatment at our Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre where she gets bathed every three days."

Anyone with information about Halo should contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999. All calls are treated in the strictest confidence.

Abandoning an animal is an offence and anyone found guilty of doing so can be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
