The Scottish SPCA has appealed for information after a dog with a severe skin condition was found abandoned outside Stirling.
An off-duty police officer discovered the brown and white female springer spaniel on Wednesday morning (27 July).
The dog had been tied to a gate on a small country lane off the A872, near junction nine on the M9.
Scottish SPCA Inspector Louise Seddon said, "This poor dog is suffering from a bad case of demodectic mange which we don't think has been treated and as a result a secondary skin infection has developed which is causing her serious pain and discomfort.
"We think she is only a young dog, possibly under one year old, and she is quite distinctive as she only has one eye.
"The vet believes her right eye has been surgically removed.
"Despite her awful skin condition, she is a lovely, friendly little dog and a typical young spaniel as she just wants to play.
"We are really keen to identify who owned her as they have allowed her to suffer from this painful skin disease and may not have not sought the veterinary treatment she desperately needed.
"We would urge anyone who recognises her to come forward."
The dog is now being cared for at our Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre where staff have named her Halo.
Abandoning an animal is an offence and anyone found guilty of doing so can be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
Anyone with information regarding Halo should call the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
